Over the past two decades Roy Arden has become one of Canada's most respected artists. Along with Jeff Wall, Ian Wallace, Rodney Graham and Stan Douglas, his work has contributed to Vancouver's reputation as an important centre for contemporary photographic art. Roy Arden: Against the Day looks at Arden's unique approach to photography and his investigations into modern city life. This major retrospective brings together two significant scholarly texts by Dieter Roelstraete and Russell Ferguson, alongside a selection of shorter texts and over 100 colour reproductions of the artist’s work.
Roy Arden: Against the Day was published on the occasion of an exhibition organized by the Vancouver Art Gallery, curated by Dieter Roelstraete and presented from October 20, 2007 to January 2, 2008.
